About three months ago, the Hanoi Urban Railway Project Management Board (MRB) proposed to increase the total investment of the Nhon – Hanoi Station project by VND 4,905 billion (total proposed project investment is VND 34,530 billion). The Prime Minister requested that by the end of 2022, the elevated section must be completed; study solutions to shorten at least half the time to complete the underground passage compared to the proposal of the consulting unit in 2027.

In the morning of the same day, the Prime Minister inspected the construction of items at station S9 (Kim Ma); station S8 (Cau Giay); train inspection. Government leaders and the delegation experienced riding the tram which is in the trial phase from Cau Giay station through 8 stations on the route to Nhon station and Depot area.
Nhon urban railway – Hanoi station is 12.5 km long, including 8.5 km above and 4 km underground. The project started in 2010, expected to be completed in 2015. Although 7 years behind schedule, the project has only reached 75% so far. Total investment capital doubled compared to the original, to more than 34,000 billion.
It is expected that, after operation, the route will have a commercial operating speed of 35km/h; 8 trains operate together; a reserve train for rush hour service; a lifeboat. The project is supported by ODA loans from the French Government, the French Development Agency (AFD), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and domestic counterpart funds.
