Ryan Giggs trial: Ex-footballer had eight ‘full-on’ affairs behind Kate Greville’s back, court hears
Greville, 36, broke down in tears at times on Tuesday as she gave evidence from
behind a screen, claiming that the former footballer had been cheating on her
since their relationship began.
alleged Giggs, 48, headbutted her after being confronted, describing it as a
turning point: “All the other times he’d hurt me … this was different. He
deliberately tried to hurt me.”
Greville also claimed that Giggs had kicked her out of hotel bedrooms naked,
once in Dubai and then again in London.
told Manchester Crown Court: “The reality of what I had found on that iPad
was way worse than I could imagine. Eight women he was having affairs with
while he was with me. Full-on relationships.
since 2014, right from the very beginning. It was all there on his iPad in
black and white.”
Greville, who cried a number of times while giving evidence from behind a
screen, said she had bought a flat in secret and had been in talks with lawyers
about custody of a dog she and Mr Giggs shared.

the two while out for dinner on November 1.
stuff, we’re leaving now’
Greville said she left Manchester’s Stock Exchange hotel, caught an Uber to the
home the couple shared in Swinton, and told her younger sister Emma – who was
house-sitting – to “get my stuff, we’re leaving now”.
arriving home, the Greville sisters began filling a car with belongings, only
for Mr Giggs to arrive 10 to 15 minutes later.
court was told Mr Giggs began removing items from the car, and Ms Greville hid
his phone as a “bargaining” tool to negotiate her leaving
was then a tussle for the device, which ended up with Mr Giggs on top of
her. As she screamed for her sister to help, Mr Giggs threw his arm back
towards Emma, the court was told.
Greville claimed that Mr Giggs took possession of the handset, and pushed
her head against the floor as he stood up.
Giggs is then said to have walked to a neighbour’s home and called the police,
telling Ms Greville: “I’m going to tell them that you attacked me, that
you’re a psycho, and you won’t leave.”
Greville told the court that she responded by saying: “I’m glad the police
are coming because you attacked me and I’ll tell them exactly what

Kate, this could ruin me and it could ruin you. Think about my job, think about
my career, think about my kids”.
Greville told the court that her response to that was: “Well, you shouldn’t

Greville told the court: “We were talking about it came up I was talking

me out for a drink and I’d said that I couldn’t believe he’d asked me out when
he know full well he had a girlfriend.”

why didn’t you say I’ve got a boyfriend.”

“How did that make you feel?”
“Like violated. Like, I felt I had no control over what he would do and his
actions. Like, just helpless, I guess. Just like I had to do what he wanted all
the time because if I didn’t he would threaten me with things, and it was going
to cause an issue with my job and my career.

Giggs then blocked Ms Greville on WhatsApp.

The court heard how Kate Greville QC found out that Mr Giggs was
cheating on her. She left for Dubai, at which stage the former footballer went
after her and they got back together, the jury was told.
Ms Greville had decided she was going to leave Mr Giggs, and
hatched a plan to move out of their home, the court heard. This plan was
executed with the help of her younger sister Emma who was house-sitting her

sister in the jaw, the CPS allege.
The court heard messages sent from Ryan Giggs to his former
girlfriend, including one which read: “Please unblock me, all this

The jury were told that the pair were “almost

the incident on Nov 1, 2020, when the CPS allege Mr Giggs headbutted Kate
