Future Fortnight is two weeks of career events for final year students and new graduates of all levels and courses. It will run from Monday June 13 to Friday June 24, 2022. There will be a mix of online and in-person events, so whether you are still in Manchester or have moved house, you can still access the programme.

By participating in the Future Fortnight, you will have the opportunity to:

Meet employers

Some of the Future Fortnight events have employer panels, where you will hear from representatives of different organizations and can ask them your questions. You can meet employers at:

Creative and Cultural Manchester: Meet the Professionals,

Technology careers for non-technical graduates,

and Technology Careers for STEM Graduates.

By attending these events, you will have the opportunity to network with employers in a sector that interests you and learn more about careers in this sector. You will also learn about opportunities in different organizations and get tips for applying.

2. Meet graduates

During Future Quinzaine you will also be able to hear and network with alumni. There will be alumni panels at:

Manchester Graduate Talent: Where Can MGT Take You?,

Doctorates – Find and apply for them,

Survive and thrive in your graduate work

and you think about a master? Everything you need to know.

At these events you will have the chance to talk to a range of alumni about their experiences from different courses, jobs and sectors and they will share their advice and tips for your applications and career decisions.

3. Boost your skills

Future Fortnight is a great way to boost your skills. The skills employers want (and how to get them) will help you understand the skills you’ll see on graduate job descriptions and some of the ways you can develop them for your resume and applications. You can also apply this knowledge to the skills you learn in other sessions!

Building Self-Awareness: Exploring Your Personality Type and Learning Style is designed to help you understand your strengths and personality; it will help you understand what you are good at and how to make stronger apps.

Finally, Prepare for the Fair: Networking with Confidence will help you get the most out of the grad fair by helping you develop your networking skills. You’ll also be able to learn about relevant skills and experience at other Future Fortnight events.

4. Find jobs and opportunities

If you’re looking for a job after graduation, or you’re a graduate looking for a new role, Future Fortnight offers many events designed to help you find opportunities, such as:

  • Where are all the jobs for graduates? fact versus fiction
  • Manchester Graduate Talent: Where Can MGT Take You?
  • and finding hidden jobs and making speculative requests.

These events will help you with your job search, both in Manchester and around the world, introduce you to Manchester Graduate Talent – the university’s graduate internship program – and help you find jobs that are not advertised openly. You’ll also learn the truth about today’s graduate job market and get tips for your job search.

5. Make career plans

Whether you want to find a graduate job, are looking to further your education, or are feeling nervous about entering the job market, Future Quinzaine has something to help you! If you don’t know what to do after college, can’t decide on a career? Maybe you don’t have to… can help you learn about different career paths and how to plan what you’d like to do next. If you have a health condition, you may have concerns that affect your career plans. Career planning with a disability or health condition will help you know your rights when applying for a job, how to disclose your condition or disability, and equality law.

If you plan to continue your studies, Future Quinzaine can also help you with your study plans. Thinking of a Masters? All You Need to Know and Ph.Ds – Finding and Applying for Them Will Help You Consider Different Factors involved in choosing a master’s or doctoral course.

So, whatever your graduation plans, Future Quinzaine has something to help you! You can see the entire program for the Future Fortnight, find more information on each event and see how to register on the Careers Service website. Don’t forget, there’s also The Grad Fair on campus on Tuesday, June 14, where you can meet a wide range of graduate employers and ask them your questions.
